AT THE BAR fronsac
For the recently opened Alto Forno in Peabody, Massachusetts, Nick Grimshaw wrote the wine list from scratch. Though he features high-end Left Bank Bordeaux at sister restaurant Pellana Prime
Steakhouse, he sought more approachable and affordable wines for Alto Forno’s modern Italian cuisine.
“Wines from classified regions Pomerol and Saint-Émilion are available, but you get much better
value from nearby Fronsac, also on the Right Bank,” says Grimshaw, beverage director at both restaurants.
Michael Buckelew, head sommelier at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado,
characterizes Fronsac as “a great hunting ground” for Bordeaux.
