Well, the weather is starting to get a little warmer all over
the country. March is here, and spring is just around the
corner. Our first regional conference, the 2014 ACF Western
Regional Conference, is taking place right now, March 2-5,
at Oakland Marriott City Center in Oakland, Calif.
I hope to see many of you at our regional conferences.
Local chapters and regional vice presidents have great
events that you don’t want to miss. Later this month,
March 16-19, we meet for the 2014 ACF Central Regional
Conference at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel, St.
Louis. Next month, join us April 11-14 at The Crowne
Plaza Hotel at the Crossings, Providence, R.I., for the
2014 ACF Northeast Regional Conference. April 26-29
finds us at the 2014 ACF Southeast Regional Conference
in Charleston, S.C., at the Embassy Suites North
Charleston—Airport/Hotel & Convention.
The board of directors held its winter board meeting in
January in St. Augustine, Fla., and we have many new ideas
for the organization that you will be hearing about in the
near future. We want you, the members, to know that this is
your organization. If there is something that you would like
to see happen, please let me know.
I want to thank all the chapters I have visited these past
few months. I have met with so many members, and
I thank you for your input. I will be around to several
chapters this spring, and I hope to see many of you at your
The 2014 ACF National Convention, hosted by ACF
Greater Kansas City Chefs Association, will be a culinary
event to remember. We will focus on you, the chef, and
make sure you have something to bring back to your place
of work that will have an impact on your present position
as well as your future career path. We have several celebrity chefs,
including members of ACF Culinary Team USA, who will be leading
seminars that are second to none. We will learn hard during the day
and play hard at night. There will be opportunities to enjoy the Kansas
City nightlife and some great events that the chapter is putting together
for all to enjoy.
You will notice that our regional conferences and national convention
have a new look and an improved emphasis on all that is important
to you as you do your job day to day. We hope that these events
provide you with valuable information, a more intimate experience
with sponsors, and networking opportunities that spark new ideas and
creativity. Please let us know what you think of this new initiative, pro
or con. We need your input.
Have a great month, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
