a retired executive chef/owner from Orlando, Fla., both members of ACF
Central Florida Chapter, were named to Orlando Sentinel’s 2012 Culinary Hall
of Fame. Each year the newspaper recognizes 10 honorees who have made
significant contributions to how Central Florida eats, drinks and dines.
Andreas Proisl, CEPC, executive pastry chef at Isleworth Golf
and Country Club, Windermere, Fla., and a member of ACF Central Florida
Chapter, was named Chef of the Year by his chapter during its President’s
Gala Jan. 8 at Villas of Grand Cypress Golf Resort, Orlando, Fla.
Tim Ryan, CMC, AAC, president of The Culinary Institute
of America (CIA), Hyde Park, N. Y., a member of Mid Hudson Culinary
Association, received The Valley Table magazine’s first Farm-to-Table
Award in February. The award, which recognizes leadership in support of
regional agriculture, was presented to Ryan at the CIA at the launch of
Hudson Valley Restaurant Week.

Ben Simpkins, CEC, CCA, WCC, executive chef at
Richardson Farms, White Marsh, Md., and a member of ACF Greater
Baltimore Chapter Inc., was named vice conseiller culinaire by the
Baltimore chapter of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, which is the world’s oldest
international gastronomic society, in November 2011. He will serve
a three-year term and is responsible for coordinating dinners and
maintaining relations with professional members.
