Pastry chefs gathered at The Retreat at
Perimeter Summit, Atlanta, Aug. 26-28,
for the first Pastry Live Weekend, which
included seminars on various pastry
techniques, from airbrushing to how to
create candies, and a day of competitions.
Here’s a look at the ACF members who
were recognized for their outstanding
pastry skills and creativity:
•Andy Chlebana, CEPC, CCA, assistant
professor/pastry chef at Joliet Junior
College, Joliet, Ill., a member of ACF Louis
Joliet Chapter, and teammate Nancy
Carey were named National Showpiece
Champions. They also took the prize for
Best Chocolate Showpiece.

ACF Colorado Chefs Association member
Jason Morse, CEC, back row, far right,
joined dads and students at Cougar Run
Elementary School, Highlands Ranch, Colo.,
Aug. 13, to build a garden shed and see how
the school’s garden project was progressing.
Morse is the school’s mentor chef, and the
dads volunteered to maintain the garden
over the summer break. ACF Colorado
Chefs Association members are working
in area schools as part of the American
Culinary Federation’s involvement in the
Chefs Move to Schools program.
