Houston, a member of Texas Chefs
Association’s Houston chapter, will be
named his chapter’s Chef of the Year
at a luncheon in Dallas, July 21. He will
be recognized for his teaching skills,
participation in charity events and
volunteer work. Fonbuena and other
Texas Chefs Association chapter chefs of
the year will be eligible to be named the
association’s 2011 Texas Chef of the Year.
Jackson York, CEC, executive chef, Edom
Bakery & Grill, Brownsboro, Texas, was the
2010 Texas Chef of the Year.

a student at
Sullivan University,
Louisville, Ky., and
member of ACF
Kentucky Chapter,
won a $5,000
scholarship at
the second annual Taste of Derby burger
competition, sponsored by Creekstone
Farms, in May. Schnaus was recognized at
the Taste of Derby Gala at the Mellwood Art
Center, Louisville, for her Kara’s B- 5 Burger,
which won judges Bobby Flay’s, Kent
Rathbun’s and Jo-Jo Doyle’s attention. Her
original recipe featured Creekstone Farms
Black Angus ground chuck seasoned with
garlic and jalapeño, spicy mayonnaise,
caramelized onions and Swiss cheese
served on an onion/poppy seed bun.

Culinary Association, won third place
and $1,000 from Kraft Foodservice for
her lobster schnitzel and arugula club
on hazelnut bread with mascarpone/
mustard sauce, tomato/baked-fontina
dip and Dijon potato salad in the Future
Chefs of Grey Poupon Student Culinary
Competition held at the CIA April 4.

Highlands Chapter, was named 2011
Distinguished Alumnus at WCCC’s
40th commencement ceremony held
at the school’s Youngwood campus,
May 6. Komarinski received the award
for her professional accomplishments,
community service and service to the
community college.

chapter’s 2011 President’s Award.

sales manager/corporate executive chef
for TW Garner Food Company, Winston-
Salem, N.C. Previously, he was corporate
executive chef at Land O’Lakes, St. Paul,
Minn. In his new role, O’Donnell will be
responsible for expanding TW Garner’s
national account foodservice footprint
across the U.S. and Canada.
